SWINGLE, VAN EGMOND & HEITLINGER SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Take Advantage of Our $1,000 Scholarship Opportunity

Each academic school year, our law firm recognizes one student for his or her service to others. We are offering a $1,000 scholarship to an undergraduate student who is committed to serving others and bettering the community. This scholarship is one way we give back to our community. We are honored to recognize students who share our values.

When Is the Scholarship Deadline?

The scholarship deadline is May 1st, 2021. We will announce the scholarship recipient by the end of May 2021.

What Are the Requirements for the Swingle, Van Egmond & Heitlinger Scholarship

There are three parts to the scholarship application:

Student Status

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, a student must either be:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at an approved university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; or
  • Accepted as an incoming undergraduate student at an approved university.

Each applicant must provide proof of undergraduate enrollment. Proof includes:

Essay

There is an essay part of the application. Applicants should provide us with a 1,200 to 1,500-word essay describing how they have and/or plan to apply their education and experience to provide a service to a community or group of people. Each applicant should explain how our scholarship award would help advance his or her goals.

Additionally, we want to know how our country’s legal system has supported or hindered each student’s efforts to better society. Students should explain what they would change about our legal system or laws to better support their efforts.

Video

Each applicant should also provide a recorded video of his or herself summarizing the essay portion of the application. This video should discuss the essay’s key points.

We have found that the best videos are:

  • Not overly rehearsed
  • Generally one-take shoots
  • Not overly long (it should be less than 10 minutes)
